Directions: How To Make Topical Finasteride

STEP #1: BUY TWO SOLVENT BOTTLES (60 mL PER BOTTLE)

A solvent is a liquid that helps to dissolve finasteride and carry the drug into the dermis of the skin. Think of your solvent as the "base" of your formulation.

For your convenience, here's a list of solvents you might consider (no affiliate links). These bottles come as 60 mL, but we need 120 mL of solvent. So, pick any solvent and buy two bottles.

• Inactive Solvent: Propylene Glycol, Ethanol, Emulsifiers (60 mL)
• Inactive Solvent: Glycerin, Ethanol, Emulsifiers (60 mL)
• Active Solvent: 5% Minoxidil, Alcohol, Propylene Glycol (60 mL)
• Active Solvent: Redensyl Capixyl Procapil, Butylene Glycol, Glycerin (60 mL)

After you've bought two of the same 60 mL solvent bottles, you can move onto step #2.

STEP #2: BUY A STORAGE BOTTLE (120 mL TOTAL)

In order to combine two 60 mL solvent bottles together, we'll need a bottle that has 120 mL of empty space and, preferably, a syringe for extraction. Here is an option (no affiliate links):

Once you have a 120 storage bottle, you can move onto step #3.

STEP #3: PREPARE YOUR FINASTERIDE PILLS

1. Locate your 5 mg finasteride pills.
2. Pulverize a total of 1.20 pills. If necessary, use the following products:
   • Pill Cutter
   • Pill Grinder

Once you've turned your 1.20 pills into fine powder, move onto step #3.

STEP #3: COMBINE THE FINASTERIDE POWDER AND SOLVENT

1. Unscrew the lid of your storage bottle
2. Dump your 1.20 pulverized finasteride pills into the solvent
3. Shake the bottle until the powder is completely dissolved

You've now made 0.005% topical finasteride. If using 2 mL daily, the bottle should last 60 days.

STEP #4: ADHERE TO USAGE PARAMETERS

Here's how to apply your 0.005% topical finasteride:

1. Apply 2 mL to thinning regions, once daily
2. Let sit for 6-10 hours in the scalp before washing
3. Respect how long it takes for finasteride to work: 6-24 months

Note: with this formulation, your total daily finasteride exposure is 0.1 mg. For reference, most men and women using oral finasteride take 1-5 mg daily.
